After graduating from college, Bill Weir found a job in Austin, Minnesota in 1991 as a reporter and weekend sports reporter for the ABC television station KAAL. He later moved to the FOX-affiliated television station WLUK in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where he worked as a sports presenter. In the mid-1990s, he was on the road again, this time to Chicago to act as a presenter for WGN Morning News. Bill remained in this position for about three years before joining KABC-TV in Los Angeles in 1998 to work as a sports choir. During his time here, he hosted, in particular, the popular weekly show Monday Night Live, which was broadcast after Monday Night Football.

Between 2002 and 2004, Bill Weir took two years off to host news or sports programs. During this time, he developed, wrote, and hosted a series of television pilots for several stations. In 2004, however, he made a comeback by joining ABC News, where he reported on current news and global trends.
