Burzis was born in America and therefore has American citizenship. Most sources report that he is of Egyptian descent, while others claim that his roots are in Tanzania in East Africa. Burzis has not provided the media with details of his birthday, family background, and upbringing. He has managed to let people guess his real age and just try to guess it. So if you take his age and the known birthday of his former wife Hoda, who was born on 9 August 1964, you could easily assume that he must have been born around this time or possibly a little older than that.

From childhood on, Burzis Kanga loved to play tennis and became an enthusiastic player of this game, and was a gifted student in his school days. From 1980 to 1983 he was a member of a private tennis team, where he was an indispensable member team. He played with the team for four seasons and won over 50 games with them. In 1984 he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and devoted more time to professional tennis. He played on satellite tennis courts in Mexico, the USA, and Europe and took home several laurels for his spectacular victories.
As Sports Commissioner for the 1996 AAU Youth Olympic Games, Burzis is credited with bringing the university’s tennis center back to life. He was a long-time board member of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and made several contributions to the development of sport in the foundation.
From 1986 to 1989 and again in 2003, he was one of the coaches at the University of New Orleans (UN). In 2008, Burzis was hired as head coach of Lakefront. In his first season there as a senior international, he achieved the remarkable 81-9 mark and earned the record of being the only member of the UN tennis team to receive the All-American Honors.
More recently, Burzis Kanga has been working as head coach for the New Orleans Privateers for years, both for the men’s and women’s teams.
Burzis Kanga and Hoda Kotb met during an American Heart Association event at 2004′ Valentine’s Day in New Orleans. Hoda is a media personality who hosts television shows and presents the news for NBC television.
They met for a year before Burzis proposed to her in May 2005, which she accepted and which led to her marriage in December 2005 in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The love that once held them together lasted only two years when Hoda filed for divorce on February 15, 2007, and it was finally granted on February 6, 2008.
Hoda Kotb is now married to Joel Schiffman, and both are parents of a girl she adopted after suffering fertility problems due to cancer before her divorce from Burzi’s Kanga.
Although she ended her marriage to Burzis, she speaks of him as a good person and was very instrumental in the successes she had enjoyed in her career, as the two were a couple at the time.
The reason for her divorce has remained an undisclosed secret ever since, as neither Burziz nor Hoda have made any revelations about it. Some sources claimed that it was Kotb’s illness and the strain of moving from New Orleans to New York that Burzis suffered whenever he wanted to be with his wife. This was compounded by the fact that he was not prepared to live in New York after living in New Orleans for more than 30 years of his life.
