The girl’s grandmother, Susan Dyson, who rented the apartment to celebrate their birthdays in March, told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the kids weren’t arguing, but instead were playing with the gun when it accidentally went off .
The two cousins were close and had grown up together.
Kuaron’s mother and Paris’ father are siblings, which makes their bond even stronger.
They often made videos and played pranks together, with Paris being a fun-loving seventh grader who loved having her hair and nails done and had a beautiful voice, while Kuaron was described as a goofy eighth grader who could do backflips for a long time.
According to relatives, the cousins were alone in a bathroom and took a video in the mirror before the shooting took place.
The video reportedly showed Paris reaching for the gun after Kuaron was shot, and it may have accidentally gone off again. Both children were shot in the head.
Shinise Harvey, Paris’ mother, described the incident as a freak accident and said the kids were “trying to be too hip”.
She had not seen the video herself, but family members had described it to her.
