Hilary Farr Bio (Age)
Hilary Farr was born on 31 August 1951 as Hilary Elizabeth Labow in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. However, she was raised by her parents in London, United Kingdom. As a young girl, Farr was interested in many things, including athletics, theater, and home design. She came to know and love the latter through the influence of her mother, who watched and helped her design her parents’ home.
Farr played netball (a basketball alternative for women, especially in the UK). She is also an accomplished diver and swimmer. She started her career as an interior designer and moved to Los Angeles where she started buying and renovating properties. Later she studied an interior design course at Ryerson University in Toronto.
To support her overall interior design vision, Farr took on part-time jobs that included designing television and film sets. Her involvement with television and film quickly shifted from design to acting and production. Farr had the privilege of working with the likes of Ted Danson and producer Arthur Cohn in film production.
In 1972 Hilary Farr began acting under her maiden name. She starred in films such as Layout for 5 Models (1972) and in 1973 in the films Sex Farm and Never Mind the Quality, Feel the Width. She also played roles in Legend of the Werewolf (1975), The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), City on Fire (1979), and The Return (1980).
Farr has also appeared in stage productions. She had a leading role in a Broadway production of Run For Your Wife and worked with the legendary Richard Gere in the London production of Grease. As her success in interior design and real estate grew, Farr expanded her market to New York, her hometown of Toronto, and the UK and Australia. Her success led her to work for stars like Jennifer Hudson and American actress Jenna Elfman.
Farr returned to Toronto in 2008 and was chosen to host Love It or List It with David Visentin, whom she met at the auditions. The show was a huge success and was also broadcast in Europe. As her fame grew with the show, Farr began appearing as a guest on other television shows, from the Marilyn Denis Show to Steven and Chris to ETalk. Since 2013 she has been the prominent judge on Brother vs. Brother, HGTV’s highest-rated show. In 2014 she was a staff member of the Huffington Post. Farr has also been a guest expert on USA Today and CNN.
Family: Married/Husband, Son
Before she became famous with her HGTV show, Hilary was married to a certain Gordon Farr. Their wedding took place on September 12, 1982. The couple divorced around 2008, after which Hilary moved to Toronto to audition for the HGTV show.
Since coming into the limelight, Hilary rarely talks about her former husband, so not much is known about him or what might have led to her divorce. According to Gordon Farr’s IMDB page, he is an Emmy nominated screenwriter and TV producer, and chances are that they might have met during Hilary’s Hollywood engagement. Some of Gordon Farr’s credits include Keeping Up with the Joneses, Hollywood Babylon, and more. Their marriage produced a son.
Hilary has often expressed her affection for her son, who she says, like the rest of her family, calls her MM, which means Mighty Munster. She has also said that her proudest moment in life is all her son has ever done.
Because of the undeniable chemistry Farr shares with her co-host David Visentin, many have been misled into believing that they are a couple. But they are not. David Visentin is married to a certain Krista Visentin and has been married since 2006.
Should anything ever go wrong in this relationship, rumors would certainly blame his fondness for Hilary Farr. They have a lot in common; both have an acting background and much more.
Hilary Farr has an estimated net worth of 7 million dollars.
