Do you love cats? Yeah, those furry four-legged cats that mew and literally have nine lives? There’s one that not only loves them but seems to have built his world around them: Jackson Galaxy. Popularly known as America’s official cat sire and host of Animal Planet’s My Cat from Hell, he can certainly be called the best cat lover.

He is a cat behaviorist and television personality, and his show focuses on the relationship between the behavior and physical health of cats. Jackson is also involved in animal rescue and works with several animal rescue and shelter organizations to help him achieve his goal of saving the 4 million animals that die in shelters each year.

Jackson Galaxy Bio.

Richard Kirschner, the cat father, was born on April 28, 1966, in Manhattan, New York City. When he was in his twenties, he changed his name to Jackson Galaxy. For his education, he got a Master of Fine Arts in acting.

Career

Jackson moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1992 as a rock artist and worked in animal shelters at the Humane Society of Boulder Valley. During his work, he was fascinated by animals and learned all about cat behavior through his interaction with rescued cats.

In 2002 he teamed up with Dr. Jean Hofve, a veterinarian, and went into private practice. Together they founded a cat counseling center, Little Big Cat, Inc. that offered to counsel to cat owners.

Five years later, in 2007, Jackson Galaxy moved to Los Angeles and continued his private consulting activities. He worked with cats in their homes and with clients on a one-on-one basis to improve the behavior of their cats.

He also continues to work with shelters and rescue organizations, teaching Cat Mojo to volunteers, staff, and adoptive parents (learning how to walk the world like a cat, with an understanding of the things that motivate them). He also helped them with behavioral and environmental improvement programs.

His popularity grew in 2011, however, when he began hosting the reality show My Cat From Hell on Animal Planet. In 2013 he became the host of the web series on the Animalist Network, Cat Mojo, in which he talks about cat-related issues.

He has also appeared on a number of TV shows that promote the interests of cats. He was the official cat behaviorist on Animal Planet’s game shows Think Like a Cat, Cats 101 and has been featured on media such as 20/20, EXTRA, The New York Times, USA Today, The Washington Post, The New York Post, and AOL.

Jackson Galaxy also has a YouTube channel where he teaches about how best to care for and treat cats. With over two decades of experience, he owns a range of holistic remedies for animals, Spirit Essences, designed to help cats and their owners.

In addition to his involvement in rescue missions and seminars for cats, Jackson has written several best-selling books about cats. These include his 2012 memoir Cat Daddy: What the World’s Most Incorrigible Cat taught me about life, love, and coming in. He co-authored two books with cat style expert Kate Benjamin: Certification: Designing a Happy and Stylish Home for Your Cat (and You!) and Catify to Satisfy: Simple Solutions for Creating a Cat-Friendly Home. The total cat mojo: Everything You Need to Know to Care for Your Favorite Feline Friend became his fourth book.

Jackson serves on the board of directors for the Stray Cat Alliance and the Fix Nation in Los Angeles and the Neighborhood Cat Advisory Board in New York City and Rescue Me Magazine.

Is Jackson Galaxy Gay? Married, Wife, Girlfriend

In 2014 the cat father married another animal lover and savior, Minoo Rabar. The two met at a fundraiser for the rescue of a kitten that Minoo had started, and met afterward for a cup of coffee. Their relationship was a whole lot of roller coasters and a lot of fun for a couple who obviously have a common interest and do what they love most – giving life to rescued pets.

The two tied the knot in a rather strange place, an animal shelter in Kanab, Utah, where pets are not allowed to be killed and which was named Best Friends Animal Society on June 29, 2014. But all out of love for the animals, this is only normal for the couple. Their dog, Mooshka, was the ring bearer in the private ceremony, which was attended only by family members and close friends.

Jackson uploads pictures of his wife to Instagram and tells his followers what activities they are doing. Rumor has it that he is gay, but since he is in a loving and adorable relationship with a lucky fairy, all gay rumors are put aside, huh?

He, the owner of cats and dogs, often describes himself as strictly bipetsual. Reasons such as his love for cats, which often attract strange looks at him because of the stereotypical belief that men should own dogs, may have given credibility to the rumor. Nevertheless, it is clear that he is not gay, as there is no credible source for the rumor or what could have started it in the first place.

Jackson Galaxy’s Weight Loss

The cat lover had this lifestyle of going out every other night as a rock musician, which led him on a self-destructive path of drugs and alcohol. It was at this time that he applied to the Humane Society of Boulder Valley and began working there. This work became life-saving for him in more ways than one.

In his memoirs, he describes in detail how his handling of cats, especially an injured cat named Benny, helped him overcome drug addiction and physical distress. He also expressed that he did not care so much about abandoning people as he did with these cats. He felt so responsible to them that he stopped smoking forever and declared that he did it for the animals. Such love.

Apart from his addiction to drugs and alcohol, he was also addicted to food. He became so overweight at over 400 pounds that he almost died. This became his turning point, and he had to undergo a gastric bypass operation to remove the excess fat from his body. Although he doesn’t like to talk about this process, Jackson now lives a healthier life with regular exercise sessions.
