Johnny and Baby have captured the hearts of all romance fans by storm in Dirty Dancing! Even if the dance strip is now more than thirty years old, since then hardly any other film couple has come close to the iconic love story of Jennifer Gray (62) and Patrick Swayze’s (✝57) cult roles. The sequel to the theatrical success was announced two years ago, but Patrick’s tragic death in 2009 in particular hovers over the project like a dark cloud. Jennifer now makes it clear that there will never be Johnny and Baby again!

“It’s taking a little longer than I expected because it has to be perfect,” the actress said on The Tamron Hall Show about the cult romance sequel. She is in no hurry and wants to take the time the project needs. “I will reprise my role as Baby, but there will never be Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Gray again,” she clarifies. “There will never be Johnny and Baby again,” added the 62-year-old. Nevertheless, the new film should have “the same soul, simplicity, and heart as the original”.

Regarding the absence of the “Road House” star, Jennifer commented on the difficulties of filming a few months ago. “There will never be another Johnny. There will never be another Patrick. The sequel has to stand on its own. That’s very difficult,” she explained in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
