Jon Bernthal has certainly experienced a wave of success in recent years. The actor is perhaps best known for the role of Frank Castle in the Marvel-Netflix television shows Daredevil and The Punisher. In both shows, his character is a vigilante who has lost his wife and two children and takes it upon himself to fight crime with all means at his disposal and at the same time track down the murderers of his family.
Jon’s portrayal of the character of Frank Castle was both sympathetic and deadly at the same time, which was probably the reason why the character was so well received. When the character first appeared in Daredevil, he immediately became a fan favorite and a favorite of the critics, so much so that the station immediately gave the green light for his own spin-off show “The Punisher”.
Jon also appeared on the successful AMC television show The Walking Dead as Shane Walsh. He was part of the first cast of the show, which also included Andrew Lincoln, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, Chandler Riggs, and Jeffrey DeMunn.
The actor also showed his comedic skills when he was cast as Duncan Carmello in the 2006 television series The Class. The series also featured Jason Ritter, Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Andrea Anders, Sean Maguire, and Lucy Punch in the leading roles.

Jonathan Edward Bernthal was born in Washington D.C. on 20 September 1976 as the son of Joan and Eric Bernthal. Jon is of Jewish descent and also has Russian, Polish, and German descent.
The actor grew up in Cabin John, Maryland, and attended Sidwell Friends School, which he graduated from in 1995. Other notable graduates of the Sidwell Friends School include Ana Gasteyer, Bill Nye, Chelsea Clinton, and Malia Obama.

After high school, he also attended Skidmore College in New York, but eventually dropped out. On the advice of his acting teacher at Skidmore College, he joined the Moscow Art Theater in Russia. During his stay in Russia, he joined a Russian professional baseball team as a catcher.
Jon often referred to his younger self as a “troublemaker”.
Brothers & Family
His father is a former lawyer and currently the Chairman of the Board of the US Humane Society, an American non-profit organization. His grandfather was Murray Bernthal – a prodigy of the violin, musician, and producer. Jon also has two brothers – Thomas, who worked as a producer for NBC News and is now the founder and CEO of Kelton Global, a management consulting firm; and Nicholas, who works as an orthopedic surgeon at UCLA.
Jon and Nicholas jointly run ‘Drops Fill Buckets’. Drops Fill Buckets is a non-profit organization described as an entrepreneurial approach to making a difference.
Jon is also related to Adam Schlesinger, the bassist and songwriter of the American rock band – Fountains of Wayne, best known for their song Stacy’s Mom.

Jon Bernthal is known for always being in excellent shape. The actor currently weighs 84kg (185lbs) and is 5ft 11in or 180cm tall. His other body measurements are chest – 45in, arms/biceps – 16in, and waist – 34in.
In order to stay in excellent shape, the actor takes an intensive training program that includes morning strength training such as bench presses, squats, pull-ups, and strength exercises. In the afternoon he also includes Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in his program.
All this is accompanied by a strict diet of lean meat and vegetables throughout the day.

On 25 September 2010, Jon Erin married Angle, a trauma nurse. They were married in Potomac, Maryland. The lovers were married by Alma Becker – Jon’s acting teacher at Skidmore College, who advised him to join the Moscow Art Theater in Russia.
The happily married couple currently has three children – Henry, born in August 2011; Billy, born in January 2013; and Adeline, born in February 2015. Jon, Erin, and their children currently live in Ojai, California.

Erin is the niece of one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, Kurt Angle, and her children currently live in Ojai, California.
Jon is an advocate of pitbull ownership, as his family owns three pit bulls. He is also a spokesman for the Animal Farm Foundation, which rescues pit bulls and promotes equal treatment for pit bulls.
Jon’s dogs occasionally accompany him on set, and two of his dogs can even be seen in his 2012 film Rampart.
