Kaytranada – Bio, Age

The DJ and producer ace were born on August 25, 1992, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, as Louis Kevin Celestin. Even as a teenager, Kaytranada not only tended to take the musical path but also became familiar with the concept of music production. He started his career in 2010 under the stage name Kaytradamus and released a lot of digital EPs and albums while working hard to get full exposure on a platform.

The producer presented two projects at that time and attracted the attention of many. In 2012 he changed his name to Kaytranada, which is still his name today. In 2013 the talented producer released the EP Todo. The following year he did a remix for the song January by the artist Disclosure. He also signed a record deal with the British label XL Recordings. He made his debut on the label with a collaboration with Shay Lia under the title Leave me Alone.

In 2016 he released his debut album 99.9%, which included various collaborations with many artists such as GoldLink, Syd tha Kyd, Vic Mensa, and many others. In that year Kaytranada also won the Polaris Music Award. 99.9% also won the Juno Prize for the electronic album of the year 2017.

As it grew in importance, Kaytranada increasingly collaborated with other artists. In 2018, the producer returned to the RCA record label and released the EP Nothin Like U/Chances. He then joined the Los Angeles-based record label HW&W, which had looked after artists like Tek Lun and Gravez.

When Kaytranada was very young, his family moved from Haiti to Canada. They moved from that country to Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and settled there. The singer had a strict parental upbringing as his parents restricted his movements and interactions with other children. Kaytranada, for his part, was not into school, he was into music and everything that had to do with it. He was always passionately interested in music and tended to follow his passion. When the opportunity arose for him to produce his own beat after being introduced to FL Studio by his brother, he was only too eager to follow it. Louis’s parents divorced when he was 14. Since he was not raised by both parents, he had the space he needed to concentrate fully on his dreams.
