Great sadness for a sitcom star! In the course of her career, Cindy Williams has inspired numerous series. She got her big break as her main character in the cult show “Laverne & Shirley” – for which she was also nominated for a Golden Globe in 1978. In 2004 she was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the television category. But now her fans have to say goodbye: Cindy Williams has passed away!
Her family announced this in a statement to the Associated Press. Cindy passed away on January 25th – she succumbed to a short but serious illness at home. The TV star was 75 years old and leaves behind two children. “The passing of our lovely, funny mother, Cindy Williams, has left us with an overwhelming sadness that can never really be expressed,” Tak and Emily said in their obituary.
Cindy’s children continue: “Knowing and loving her has been our joy and privilege. She was unique, beautiful, generous, and possessed a brilliant sense of humor and a sparkling spirit that everyone loved.” Cindy was married to the father of the two, her fellow actor Bill Hudson (73), from 1982 to 2000.
