Lior Bitton is Israeli, he was born in Herzliya, Israel, a city in the northern part of the Tel Aviv district, known as a hub for start-ups and entrepreneurial ventures. There are no verifiable records of his birthday, family members, or childhood life. This also applies to his educational efforts, as there is almost nothing in the media about which schools he attended and how he grew up to become the man we know today.
However, if we put together the few available facts we have collected about Lior Bitton’s early life and draw conclusions from them, it is likely that Lior grew up in his birthplace. It is also likely that during his adolescence the business culture of Herzliya rubbed off on him, so that he not only started his own business but also flourished on another continent and in another country, thousands of miles away from the country he calls home. Prior to his business activities, Lior also served in the Israeli military, since it is mandatory for every Israeli citizen over the age of 18 to serve in the Israeli defense force for at least 2 years.
Bitton runs a jewelry store in Westminster, a town in California in the United States of America, which he called Pacific Diamonds and Gems store. He was quite successful in his business, albeit with an ugly legal incident in which he was on the wrong side of the law.
It happened sometime in January 2010, when he was arrested for being involved in a theft allegation that was in fact an insurance fraud he had committed against his insurer – Berkley Asset Protection. Lior Bitton claimed that one of his couriers, containing 20 pieces and a 4.21-carat diamond, was stolen. He demanded $99,000 from his insurer as compensation for the stolen assets. A month later, however, Lior flew to Isreal and sold the same items he allegedly stole to a buyer from Isreal.
The buyer took the purchase to the GIA (Gemmological Institute of America) with no harmless intent to verify its authenticity, and there it turned out that the diamonds were exactly the same diamonds that Lior claimed were stolen from him. What’s more, it had his fingerprints on it; did he steal from himself then?
Shamefully, Bitton was arrested and taken into custody sometime in 2011. He was sentenced to 3 years of formal parole, 5 days in prison, and 90 days of house arrest. He was also ordered to repay the amount he had received as compensation to his insurance company. According to reports, Bitton was later arrested on $100,000 bail.
