Marco Reus Biography and Age
The German was born on 31 May 1989 in what was then West Germany as Marco James Reus. The player of German, English, and Russian descent was raised in Germany by his parents, Thomas Reus and Manuela Reus, as the only son.
As with many other great footballers, Reus began playing as a young boy and was encouraged by his parents, who helped him get into a youth club.
He has older sisters named Yvonne and Melanie Reus with whom he grew up.
Club Football Career
As far as his club career is concerned, the striker began his youth career at the age of only 5 years with the Post SV Dortmund. After remaining with the club until 1996, he moved to Borussia Dortmund, where he stayed until 2006. The next club he found himself in was the German football club Rot Weiss Ahlen.
From 2006 to 2007, he played in the youth team before being promoted to the senior national team in 2007. By 2009 he had already played 45 games for the club and scored 5 goals. The next club where he would find himself was Borussia Mönchengladbach. There he scored 36 goals after 97 international matches before signing with Borussia Dortmund in 2012. Marco Reus has won numerous titles with Borussia Dortmund, including the DFB Cup and the DFL Super Cup. In 2013, the club became runners-up in the UEFA Champions League. He also has a number of individual successes to his credit, such as promotion to the Bundesliga team of the season for 5 seasons in a row and being named Bundesliga player of the season twice.
National Football Career
Reus made his debut in the German jersey in 2009, playing for the country’s U-21 team. Before joining the senior national team, he was only allowed to play two games. His call to the national team came in 2011, and by the time he was appointed to represent Russia at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which Germany last won in 2014, Marcos had already scored 9 goals for the team after 29 games.
