Matthew Timothy Healy, the English singer and lead singer of the Manchester-based indie rock band, was born on April 8, 1989, in London, England. He was born into a creative family, as his mother was the English actress and TV presenter Jacqueline Denise Welch, while his father is the English actor Tim Healy.
He was raised with his brother Louis Healy by his parents who were together until 2012 when they divorced.
One cannot deny how much the English musician has achieved with his band so far. Even though his life was a fight against things like drug addiction, he had no reason to fight financially because his music was so successful. There he met his bandmates Ross MacDonald and George Daniel; they started playing covers for punk rock and pop music before they started writing their songs.
Matty didn’t do too well in school and saw school education as an obstacle to his music. His mother insisted that he attend a music school, which he did, but it didn’t last 3 months. He and his band members started playing in local pubs while he took a job in a Chinese restaurant.
1975 released their first EP called Facedown in 2012, and one of the songs, The City, became a hit. Matty said the success of the album was mainly a shock as they made all the songs for fun. The response the EP received encouraged them to take the music more seriously. In 2013, the band released their first album 1975, followed by I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It (2016), and A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships (2018). Their next album, Notes on a Conditional Form, is scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2019.
