Have you ever heard a Maron 5 track and wondered who writes those incredible bass lines? Well, don’t be surprised anymore, the bass lines of the group are the brainchild of none other than Mickey Madden. Madden has been part of the pop-rock band since its inception and has accompanied them over the years.
He may not be as popular as the band’s lead singer, Adam Levine, but there’s still a lot to know about the bass guitarist. Let us guide you through his journey to fame and glory with the Maroon 5 while revealing some lesser-known facts about his personal life.
Mickey Madden Bio
On May 13, 1979, somewhere in Austin, Texas, the music star who was to be Mickey Madden was born. His family later moved to Los Angeles, where he attended the Brentwood School. In high school, Madden became passionate about music and began playing bass guitar. His love of music soon made him friends with his fellow musicians and schoolmates Adam Levine and Jesse Carmichael. In 1994 the boys joined Ryan Dusick to form the rock band Kara Flowers, named after a girl they all had a collective crush on.
Influenced by the works of Nirvana and Pearl Jam, Kara Flowers began performing in Los Angeles. One fateful day, while playing on a beach in Malibu, they caught the attention of independent producer Tommy Allen. Allen came to help them sign a record deal with Reprise Records.
However, the boys didn’t succeed immediately, as their debut album The Fourth World, released in 1997, was a huge failure. It managed to sell only 5,000 copies and the label dropped them after only 6 months after signing the contract. Desperately the boys considered breaking up but remained close friends.
High school ended, and while Carmichael and Levine went to Long Island to attend Five Towns College, Madden and Dusick stayed in LA and chose UCLA. In 2001, the boys got back together and, with James Valentine as a guitarist, formed the rock band Maroon 5. Their debut album was a hit and the men remained close friends. Dusick, who played drums, left the band in 2006.
Madden had been a practicing vegan for years. He is an avid supporter of Farm Sanctuary, an animal welfare organization.
Madden was arrested in early 2016 along with James Gubelmann, the ex-boyfriend of Ivanka Trump, for cocaine possession. All charges against him were dropped after he agreed to a day of community service.
Family Life – Wife or Girlfriend
Mickey Madden is one of the quiet ones among the men that make up Maroon 5, a personality trait that makes him very comfortable playing a backup position as bassist in the band. Madden is far from being fodder for the tabloids, and as such, details of his private life are not readily available to the public.
Unlike his other bandmates Adam and Jesse Carmichael, who love to share details of their love life on social media, Madden would rather not do so. When it comes to his love life, Mom is always the word. Therefore, at the time of this writing, it is unclear whether Madden is in a relationship. One thing is certain, he is still unmarried.
In the past, a few of Mickey’s romantic relationships have made it into the media. The last known to the media is his two-year relationship with Niki Takesh. Does the name mean nothing to you? Well, Niki is popular in the fashion world as a celebrity stylist.
She is a kind of Instagram star, famous for designing her self-proclaimed eyewear brand and influencing fashion trends. Her clientele includes A-list names like Drake, Kris Jenner, and Miley Cyrus. It was on the latter that she appeared in her music video for “We Can’t Stop”. She has also appeared in other videos such as Ed Forniele’s “Pool Party” video for MOCAtv and had a small role in the 2015 comedy Midnight Sex Run. Niki seems to have the perfect charismatic personality to complement Madden’s calm manner, too bad they broke up in 2015 after only two years of dating.
Madden briefly dated model and actress Hailey Gates in 2010 and there were rumors that she was dating new girl star, Zooey Deschanel.
