The good news: After three and a half years, “Carnival Row” is really happening – today! The bad: after that it’s over, because the second season is also the last. Also new: “Star Trek: Picard” season 3.

The fans have been waiting for it for a long time, now it’s finally here: the second and final season.Carnival row starts today, February 17, 2023 on Amazon Prime Video. There is a proud three and a half years between the first season and the first episode of season 2 – that’s a very long time, even for complex series like “Carnival Row”. And the wait isn’t even over for the fans…

Because even though all eight episodes of “Carnival Row” Season 1 were released in August 2019, Amazon has decided to publish season 2 weekly, with two episodes per week – unlike Netflix, Prime Video doesn’t have a unified publishing model, which is shown again here. The broadcast of the second season “Carnival Row” is therefore expected to conclude on March 17, 2023.

The long wait for the second season is also due to the corona pandemic, which also caused a delay, as did protagonist Orlando Bloom, who was only able to shoot his scenes in 2021 due to the birth of his child. And then you certainly didn’t want ‘Carnival Row’ to compete for the public’s favor against ‘House Of The Dragon’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ at the end of 2022.

In “Carnival Row” Season 2, we return to the city-state of The Burgue and especially to the Carnival Row neighborhood, where all kinds of mythical creatures coexist with humans. Having fled here from the destruction of their homeworld, they are considered second-class creatures and are exploited and oppressed.

However, not everyone wants to put up with that, like the fairy Vignette Stonemoss (Cara Delevigne), who rebels against the oppression of the honest people by men. The male protagonist, Detective Inspector Rycroft “Philo” Philostrate (Orlando Bloom), must solve a brutal series of murders just like in season 1.

Also new: “Star Trek: Picard” – and also on Paramount+!

And even those who prefer science fiction series to fantasy series can look forward to new episodes tomorrow, because the third season”Star Trek: Picard‘ will finally be released in Germany – on Amazon Prime Video AND the newly launched Paramount+ streaming service:

Because “Picard” is actually an original series from Paramount+ (formerly CBS All Access) and actually only ran on Amazon in this country because Paramount+ didn’t exist at the time of season 1 and season 2. An agreement has now been reached to make the series available make on both streaming services.
