Starting today, you can stream the conclusion of Kevin Smith’s legendary trilogy on Netflix with Clerks III. Many meta and even more stars offer the return to where it all began…

After “Clerks III” was only quietly, quietly and secretly released as a rental or purchase VoD and there is still no Blu-ray or DVD in Germany, you can finally get Kevin Smith’s latest movie in a streaming Watch a subscription – to Netflixen.

As you know, it all started with “Clerks – Die Ladenwart” in the nineties. The comedy, reportedly costing just $27,000, became a cult hit after its 1994 theatrical release, and Kevin Smith became a popular director, followed by such films as “Chasing Amy” and “Dogma.” After a sequel followed in 2006 with “Clerks 2”, he followed it up with “Clerks III” in 2022, in which a metaplot goes back to the original.

In “Clerks III” “Clerks” arises – somehow

Once again, we return to the Quick-Stop store, now owned by Dante (Brian O’Halloran) and Randal (Jeff Anderson), making it even easier for the two slackers to just hang out than work. Ever since Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (Kevin Smith) took over the former video store next door to legally sell marijuana from there, they’re still there.

But when Randal suffers a serious heart attack, he questions his past dissolute life. He is convinced that he has wasted his time and wants to create something that will last. So he decides to make a movie about his and Dante’s life and the Quick Stop. Since Dante was tasked with keeping his friend happy in the hospital, he agrees and as a producer is initially working to raise nearly $30,000 for the budget…

So the two make a film that looks suspiciously like Clerks, but also has some deviations (and a lot of Star Wars references). And of course Kevin Smith uses this film, which is also a kind of reflection on his entire career, to get many old acquaintances in front of the camera:

Supporting roles include companions such as Ben Affleck, Justin Long, Rosario Dawson and his daughter Harley Quinn Smith. However, a real cameo show begins when Randal starts casting the roles for his film. Of course, we don’t want to betray the stars here, who put the handle in their hands. You can now watch it for yourself on Netflix.
