We admit honestly. We didn’t recognize it. But now that we know, you can see it right away. In Avatar: The Way Of Water, there is a hidden Easter egg for “Terminator 2”.

Lo’ak (Britain Dalton) is one of several new characters introduced in Avatar: The Way Of Water. The son of Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) is a true rebel who struggles to listen to his father. This always gets the loner, who befriends a Tulkun in the course of the story, into trouble.
Also surrounding Lo’ak is an Easter egg for “Terminator 2: Judgment Day,” as Eric Saindon, who was involved with the special effects, recently revealed. During an appearance on the YouTube series VFX Artists React, he revealed: that James Cameron really wanted two strands of Lo’ak’s hair to hang over his right eye over and over again. The director wanted to refer to “Terminator 2”, where the Edward Furlong John Connor played, two curls keep falling over the right eye:

And looking at the picture now, we have to admit. Now that you know that Lo’ak’s look is meant to refer to John Connor, it makes sense. We had never thought of that before. But that’s not too bad, because maybe we had a reaction to Lo’ak’s two tails that we didn’t even consciously notice.
Since James Cameron wasn’t too into adding a very subtle Easter egg, he probably wanted to reach our subconscious a bit. Even in “Terminator 2”, Furlong’s haircut should convey that he is a rebellious teenager. Now, according to Saindon, Cameron wanted to give audiences “that same feeling, that rebellious feeling” when we see Lo’ak.
You can watch the complete, very interesting video with Eric Saindon here. The talk about the ‘Terminator 2’ Easter Egg is in a section on realistic hair, which starts at about 11 minutes and 30 seconds.
Meanwhile, “Avatar 2: The Way Of Water” is still running successfully in cinemas.
