Scott Anderson has been arrested and faces state and federal charges in connection with a series of bombings in Fresno.

On Tuesday, February 28, 2023, police announced that a 44-year-old man had been arrested for a series of bombings in Fresno that began December 13.

Law enforcement officials said one of the events happened at the Fresno County Internship Office, where a bomb exploded in one of the patrol units. Six of the cases involved cars and the seventh involved a mailbox.

ABC30 news reporter tweeted on March 2, 2023 about a 44-year-old man arrested for a series of bombings in Fresno.

During the investigation, police said they discovered there could be links between a white supremacist group and Scott Anderson.

Fresno Police Department Paco Balderrama stated that there was no idea the bombings would hold up, prompting swift action.

Police are still digging and investigating the motive behind the bombing.

Balderrama said, “On January 8, 2023, detectives from the Northwest Precinct at 3560 west San Jose Avenue responded to a pipe bomb detonation under a vehicle. Detectives learned that another pipe bomb had detonated in the same vehicle on January 6.”

Paco Balderrama also let it be known that they were able to restrain Anderson after that bombing and collected more evidence on another bombing on December 13.

In another statement, Balderrama said: “It quickly became apparent that the suspect or suspects in this case claimed to be proficient in bomb making and also their frequency.”

According to the Fresno Police Department, Scott Anderson left town on February 23, 2023 when three separate locations related to him were identified and search warrants were issued.

However, the next day, Scott and his mate were arrested by authorities in Riverside.

Due to the risk of arrest, nearby civilians had to be moved as a precaution.

Following Scott’s arrest, a series of search warrants led to four more arrests for various firearms and drug trafficking offenses.

Fresno County District Attorney Lisa Smittcamp said the people of the state of California would file charges against a criminal on charges against four different defendants for the actions police spoke of in January and February 2023.

One of those four defendants, one identified as Frank Rocha, was also charged with possession of bomb material.

Frank is still awaiting extradition to Fresno and was arrested in Riverside County with Anderson. Anderson has since been incarcerated in the Fresno County Jail without bail, and he also faced federal charges in three of the bombings.

As alleged in the federal indictment, U.S. attorney Phil Talbert said three pipe bombings attacked all damaged cars involved in interstate commerce.
