The talented football cornerback was born on July 20, 1995, as Shaquill Griffin in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was born to African-American parents Terry Griffin and his wife Tangie Griffin. Shaquill has American citizenship and belongs to the African American ethnic group. He grew up with his twin brother in St. Petersburg, where he attended Lakewood High School in St. Petersburg. During his high school years, Shaquill participated in various sporting events organized by his school, including soccer and athletics events. He played as a cornerback for the Lakewood Spartans and ended his high school career in 2013.
After graduating from Lakewood, Shaquill was scouted by many universities that offered him attractive scholarships, but he turned them down because of his twin brother. He accepted an offer from the University of Central Florida, which offered scholarships to the Griffin twins.
