Stephen Barton, missing since Wednesday night, has left his family and the Thurston County community deeply concerned.
Barton was last seen Wednesday night at his rural home in Thurston County. The next morning, his cell phone and vehicles were left at his home, but he was nowhere to be seen.
The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking public assistance in searching for 54-year-old Stephen Barton, also known as Shane.
Barton’s disappearance is considered suspicious, according to the sheriff’s office. As a result, they searched the area several times, including the family’s 11-acre property, with help from the Washington State Patrol.
Investigators will continue to investigate the home from Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters, Barton’s son, Danner Barton, shared that the family went through every scenario and spoke to as many people as possible.
“There’s nothing, I mean, we went out of our way to go through every scenario and talk to as many people as possible who were close to my dad and even those who weren’t close. We went to my dad to see if they knew anything , whether they saw them or whether they picked him up,’ said Danner Barton.
However, they still cannot determine why Barton would have left alone.
Barton is described as 5’8″ with short brown hair and brown eyes. The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who has seen him or knows his whereabouts to contact them.
In addition to the searches by law enforcement, family and friends, the family has also used social media to spread awareness about Barton’s disappearance.
They’ve created a Facebook page called “Find Shane Barton” where they share updates and urge anyone with information to come forward.
Danner shared that his family is struggling to deal with the situation, and they hope someone comes forward with information that could lead to his father’s safe return.
The community has also gathered around the family during this difficult time. Many have offered their support and assistance in the search for Barton.
As the search continues, the family is grateful for any information that may lead to his safe return.
