His career as a hockey player really began when he graduated from high school. From 2004 to 2005, after completing his senior season with the Warriors, he transferred to the United States Hockey League (USHL) and joined the Sioux Falls Stampede for 11 games. Oshie was named 24th overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft in the off-season.
