The River Valley community is in mourning after the death of Blairsville Elementary School physical education instructor, Mr. Todd McGee.
According to a statement, he was known for his positivity and ability to see the good in people and situations. Students will remember him as a role model for promoting physical fitness and education and for his warm and welcoming demeanor.
The loss of Mr. McGee also impacted the school staff, who saw him as a colleague, friend and spirit guide.
The community has gathered to provide grief counseling to those in need, with counselors from various locations available to speak with students.
Despite the difficult circumstances, BES teachers and staff have seized the opportunity to meet the needs of their students while processing their own emotions.
Mr. McGee’s impact on the community will be greatly missed as he was a valuable role model to students throughout the school district.
