Critics and fans agree: “Wonder Woman” starring Gal Gadot as Power-Amazon is one of the absolute spearheads of the DCEU – which, however, will soon disappear. If you want to reminisce, tune in to Sat.1.
It doesn’t matter if it’s “Man of Steel”, “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”, “Suicide Squad” or “Aquaman”: they all more or less drew swear words, while the creative minds remained behind the DC Extended Universe change say the Marvel competition does everything much, much better. Of “miracle WomanBut suddenly the tide turned, because suddenly the DCEU was also able to present a real highlight. We gave it 4.5 out of a possible 5 stars – as we did for James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” (not to be confused with David Ayer’s “Suicide Squad”), which was released four years after “Wonder Woman”.
And who knows, maybe the upcoming “The Flash” will be another strong entry into the DCEU, as Warner would have great faith in the superhero movie starring Ezra Miller, after all. But: that was soon enough with the DCEU, as the movie universe is reopened by mastermind James Gunn as the DCU – and so, for example, “Wonder Woman 3” by Patty Jenkins is no longer coming.
DC Masterplan finally revealed: new Superman, new Batman and much, much more!

This is Wonder Woman
Diana (Gal Gadot) grew up on Themyscira, the island of the Amazons, where women rule and there are no men. But power is also at stake on the paradise island. Learning to fight as a child from her Aunt Antiope (Robin Wright), Diana is prepared for a battle that could erupt in the distant future. When American pilot Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) crash lands on the island and reports a gruesome war, Diana suspects the work of the war god Ares behind it.
So she follows Steve into the human world, leaving her mother, Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen), to find Ares where the battle is fiercest and human suffering greatest. But in the turmoil of World War I, Diana finds herself first with German army commander General Ludendorff (Danny Huston) and his trusty scientist Dr. Maru (Elena Anaya) to do…
Best DC adaptation since The Dark Knight
In the official CELEBTAP review, “Wonder Woman” received an excellent 4.5 out of 5 stars. Lead critic Christoph Petersen writes in his conclusion: “While she doesn’t even appear in the title, Wonder Woman emerged as the secret winner of the giant duel ‘Batman V Superman’ in 2016 – but after her striking solo film, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince is now definitely the biggest asset of the new Justice League.”
The superheroine blockbuster is by far the best DC movie since ‘The Dark Knight’: Patty Jenkins not only gets many things right that her peers have repeatedly screwed up over the years, she also exposes the whole brooding anti-hero who acts like a pretense of a teenage boy from the DC cinema universe, while Diana, aka Wonder Woman, is completely focused on the really important stuff.”
That said, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman is not only the heroine we deserve, but also the heroine we so desperately needed!
Equally magnificent is Chris Pine, who is on top form here: “He’s never been better than here when allowed to respond to Diana’s naive questions or firm demands. […] And not only that: Sparks fly between Pine and Gadot in a way we’ve never experienced in any other superhero movie. Maybe it took a woman to be in the director’s chair, at least before that.”
