Valtteri Bottas is a Finnish racing driver who has become one of the most famous in this sport. After having spent most of his life behind the wheels, Botta is now a Formula 1 racer, racing on the track for the Mercedes team. In his career to date, he has teamed up with people like Lewis Hamilton. Because of his life in the fast lane, many people have felt the desire to get to know him better. Here is everything you need to know about him.
Valtteri Bottas Biography
The racing driver was born as Valtteri Viktor Bottas on 28 August 1989 in Nastola, Finland. His father, Rauno Bottas, worked in the cleaning business, while his mother, Marianne Välimaa, was a funeral director. This means that he grew up with a sister in a family that cannot be described as wealthy.
After his training, Valtteri served in the military with the rank of Lance corporal. His short service was in line with a mandatory provision for adult men in the country.
As he was still a child, he had his eyes set on competitive sports. In this respect, he was already behind the wheel at the age of six when he started as a professional kart racer. Here he got the opportunity to sharpen his skills and achieve many victories in the years to come, and so he ended up in the Finnish national karting team.
The right break for Valtteri was after 2005 when after winning the Formula Renault European Cup and the Formula Renault Northern European Cup, he won three karting titles in 2006 and two titles in 2008. Interestingly, he won from 28 starts to 17 races.
The following years were very significant for him as he continued to climb the career ladder. In 2009 he won the Masters of Formula 3, but finished third in the Formula 3 Euro Series and retained the Master’s title. Valtteri made his debut in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship in 2013 with the Williams F1 Team. He drove for the team until 2016 when he signed with Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport. His best performance so far was 4th place, which he achieved in 2014.
In his first season with Mercedes, he only achieved third place in Formula 1 behind Hamilton and Ferraris Sebastian Vettel. That was in 2017 when he replaced Nico Rosberg after his resignation, and that gave Valtteri Bottas the chance to enter into a partnership with Lewis Hamilton. That year he also won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and the Russian Grand Prix.
He drove for various teams including the French ART Grand Prix, Prema Powerteam in Italy, AT&T Williams, Williams F1 Team, Williams Martini Racing, and Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport, for whom he still drives. It is expected that the contract he signed with the team will accompany him until the 2018 season.
The Finnish racer is married to Emilia Pikkarainen (now Emilia Bottas). They were married on September 10, 2016, at St. John’s Church in Finland, Helsinki, after having been together since 2010. Emilia, who is also from Finland, was born on October 11, 1992.
Swimmer Emilia Bottas is one of the best swimmers in her home country, having represented the country in the Olympic Games since she was only 15 years old. Moreover, the blonde beauty holds a number of national swimming records.
For the time being, the couple has not yet had a child. They live in Monaco now.
Height, Weight, Body Measurements
As a good-looking man, Valtteri Bottas is an averagely built man, who has a good height and body weight. He is so athletically built that he would be able to excel in many other sports if he had chosen to do so. He has a height of 173 cm (5 feet and 9 inches) and the bodyweight of 68 kg (150 pounds).
Although his actual body measurements are not given, his physique, as I said, is in the average line and he is very fit. In fact, he has been described as a fitness fanatic. Bottas also has blue eyes and blond hair.
Bottas, who is pursuing his career without the clear intention of stepping on the brakes, has a net worth of $20 million. His wealth comes from his racing career and from the support he has received for various brands, including his business with Konecranes.
