In Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania, the eponymous hero Ant-Man meets the new villain Kang The Conqueror aka Kang the Conqueror. In an interview, we asked Kang actor Jonathan Majors which Avenger he would meet next.

Disney and its affiliates.

Jonathan Majors made his MCU debut in the first season of Loki. There, as the one who remains, he already hinted at the enormous potential in his character – or rather, in his characters. Because the one who stays is just one of the countless variants of the famous cartoon character Kang – and in “Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania” we now meet the following: Kang The Conqueror aka Kang the Conqueror.

We caught up with Jonathan Majors for an interview and asked about his favorite Kang variation. And of course, we also wanted to know which Avenger Kang or one of the Kangs he thinks he should face next.

MOVIE STARTS: You’ve now played two different Kang variants and, without giving too much away, it doesn’t stop there. Which Kang was your favorite to play and why?

Jonathan Majors: It’s very hard to say which was my favorite kang. But what I’m most looking forward to is sharing Kang The Conqueror with the world. Now it’s his turn to draw attention to himself. I’m very proud of the work we put into this character as a team.

MOVIE BEGINS: And is there another Kang you’d like to play again?

Jonathan Majors: I liked the one that stays [Anm. d. Red.: aus „Loki“] always bad [lacht].

Disney The One Who Stays (left) and Kang the Conqueror are two of the many Kang variants.

MOVIE BEGINS: It was really fun.

Jonathan Majors: He really has. And he is very different from Kang the Conqueror. Kang is also a lot of fun, but in a different way.

MOVIE BEGINS: Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania wasn’t your last appearance as Kang’s version. Which Avenger do you think Kang should meet next?

Jonathan Majors: for tea you mean?

MOVIE BEGINS: For example. Or whatever you can think of…

Jonathan Majors: [lacht] Maybe Dr. Strange. This could get interesting…

Kang x Creed

MOVIE STARTS: Your character not only has powerful superpowers, but also battles Ant-Man in one scene. Did your Creed III combat training benefit you?

Jonathan Majors: I trained for both movies at the same time, but we shot Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania first. And from there we moved on to Creed III. The crossover between both movies is: Kang knows every human martial art and many others. So there will definitely be some boxing in Kang’s fight. When he digs, he does it like a heavyweight champion. But of course he’s not a boxer like Damian Anderson [Anm. d. Red.: Majors’ Figur in „Creed III“].

MOVIE BEGINS: As Kang, you wear an awesome version of Kang’s comic strip costume. How long did it take you to put on the costume and how nice was it to go to the bathroom in it?

Jonathan Majors: I think we finally made it in 12 minutes. Not always, of course, but that was the record. And what toilet? You just keep it [lacht].

MOVIE BEGINS: What comics did you read in preparation for your role?

Jonathan Majors: There are so many different ones. I read the Fantastic Four series, all the Avengers comics featuring Kang, Kang The Conqueror and The Kang Dynasty that came out just before filming started. They were all very helpful. My favorite was probably the new version of The Kang Dynasty.

MOVIE BEGINS: Were there any impromptu moments while working on set that stuck in your head?

Jonathan Majors: There was a new short trailer for Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania a few days ago, which featured Kang shouting “I’m Kang”. That wasn’t in the script. The scene is there, of course, he gives a speech and explains to the others why they don’t stand a chance against him. ‘Do you think you can beat me? You are talking to ants” and so on.

But there was a brief pause in the dialogue while we were shooting, and then suddenly I yelled, “I’m Kang.” I was just so caught up in the moment. And when I saw the moment in the trailer, I loved it. It was just one of those magical moments.

You can watch the scene described by Jonathan Majors in “Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania” in theaters since February 15, 2023 – or in the following short trailer:
