If you’ve ever been interested in poker games, you may have heard of poker champion Antonio Esfandiari, whose emigration from Iran to California in the United States of America exposed him to the world of magic and cards that is responsible for his current fame and celebrity.
Who is Antonio Esfandiari?
Young Antonio Esfandiari was like a man hungry for success in any form, so he concentrated on improving his knowledge through an education he received at Del Mar High School in San Jose. In an effort to take better care of his father and younger brother, Antonio began working as a waiter in a restaurant at the age of 16.
He became addicted to magic when one of the bartenders showed him a clever card trick. The teenager Antonio soon became obsessed with magic and used every book and video cassette he could get his hands on to master the art of magic. He practiced daily until he became perfect. Antonio changed his name from Amir to Antonio to sound even more mystical and began to practice his magic in the restaurant, which led to him being invited to many private parties to practice magic.
Apparently, Antonio’s father was uncomfortable with his way of making a living, so the young magician left home to live with a friend who introduced him to the game of poker. His interest in the game brought him to a non-tournament poker table until he began experimenting with cash games and eventually participated in several successful poker tournaments, and today he is considered one of the most successful poker players of our time.
As one of the best poker players in the United States, Antonio has appeared on several poker television shows. He has two World Poker Tour (WPT) championships to his name and has earned three World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets during his career, including the Big One for One Drop he won in 2012. The Big One for One Drop was tied to a $1,000,000 buy-in tournament that was to benefit the One Drop Foundation, and winning that event made Antonio Esfandiari the winner of the largest single payout in tournament poker history, $18,346,673, and he reached and held the lofty number one position in all tournament poker winnings of all time.
Who is Antonio Esfandiari’s Wife, Parents, and Family?
Antonio Esfandiari, the magician and poker player, was born Amir Esfandiari on December 8, 1978, in the city of Tehran, Iran. After his family moved to California, USA, in search of greener pastures, his mother suddenly left him and his younger brother Pasha Esfandiari and returned to their home town in Iran, leaving only their father Bijan Esfandiari to care for the boys. Antonio’s father and his boys did not waste time grieving over an absent mother but set out to create a better life for themselves in their new home in California.
According to the celebrated poker player, his life was like a roller coaster ride. The immigration from Iran to America, the struggles, trials, and tribulations he had to face to survive, but the bright light at the end of that tunnel was the encounter with his amazing wife and significant other Amal Bounahra, whose father happened to be a poker pro Badih “Bob” Bounahra. The birth of his sweet son on January 7, 2015, changed the magician’s life forever. He said he had always known that fatherhood would come to him one day, but the actual feeling was something that was better experienced than explained.
The famous professional poker player went even further and explained that his current state of euphoria stems from the loving relationship he had with his father. He compared the love and sacrifice of his father to the law of physics in his life, which is always reliable. He describes his father as his hero and as one of the best things that happened to him, and he believes that because of the love and devotion that his father showed to them, he is in a better position to give the same to his son. The magician concluded by saying that after several years of being so close to his beloved father, he had always wondered what life would be like from his father’s point of view, and finally, he knew.
