What’s The Meaning Of Mila Kunis Son’s Name?

Unlike the name Wyatt, which Ashton simply shouted out at a sporting event, the name Dimitri Portwood Kutcher seems to reveal more about the couple’s roots and heritage (well, Isabelle also talks about her roots).

Dimitri is a very popular boy’s name with Russian origin and roots. According to Namebery, Dimitri, which simply means “follower of Demeter”, is one of several possible spelling variants of the name of [Demetrius], the Greek god of fertility and agriculture.

Why a Russian name, you may ask. Well, Kunis has Russian roots. She had moved from Ukraine to the US at the age of seven, she is fluent in Russian and had once told Marie Claire that her children would speak Russian and that they would probably go to a Russian preschool.

And for his middle name, Portwood, reports suggest that Kutcher must have named his son after his stepfather Mark Portwood – whose surname, mother, Diane Portwood, also shares. Therefore, the choice of the name Dimitri Portwood could only serve to feel the connection to her family and roots (heritage).
