Dominick Wright, son of the late American rapper Eazy-E, did not choose his father’s profession, even though his father was considered one of the godfathers of rap music.
Instead, he chose a career as an actor and model and is best known for his role as Curtis in the film Mistaken (2015).
Dominick Wright – The Son of Famous Rapper Eazy-E
Dominick Wright was born on 6 September 1991 in Los Angeles, California, to his parents Eric Lynn Wright (known as Eazy-E) and his wife Tomica Woods.
His father was a founding member of the gangsta rap group N.W.A. The group’s debut studio album Straight Outta Compton was released in 1988.
Although his father Eazy-E was notorious for having different women and fathering 11 children in his short 30-year career. Daijah Wright is Dominick’s only biological sibling, born six months after Eazy-E’s death.
Due to his father’s various relationships, Dominick Wright has many siblings. Their names are Marquise Wright, David Wright, Lil Eazy-E Wright, Erin Bria Wright, Ebie Wright, Erica Wright, and Raven Wright.
When Dominick Wright was born, his parents were dating and not married at the time. Shortly after Eazy-E’s health began to deteriorate, they married on 14 March 1995. This was just 12 days before the legend’s death.
Due to his father’s untimely death, Dominick Wright had only been with him for two years. On 16 March 1995, Eazy-E was diagnosed with HIV/AIDS and subsequently publicly announced his devastating condition.
The rapper’s sudden death, which was surrounded by conspiracy theories, caused a great stir in 1995. Eazy-E’s cause of death was AIDS-related pneumonia.
Dominick Wright Career
Dominick Wright starred in several films in pursuit of his dream of becoming an actor, a career he had pursued since childhood.
Dominick first became known as the son of Eazy-E, who was once a rap legend. Dominick set out to make it on his own after several controversies erupted around his father’s past.
However, before his father turned thirty, he had achieved great successes such as wealth, fame, and success. Dominick chose a career in acting and became a stuntman.
Dominick made his debut in 2010 in the film Total Rewrite, playing the role of Derrick Rhodes. His filmography also includes Count on Me, The Fairy Prince, Indiewood, and Mistaken.
Unlike his brother, Daijah Wright is another well-known rapper in the music industry. She followed in her father’s footsteps.
Her sister Daijah was part of season 3 of Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta. On the show, rapper Da Brat collaborated with hip-hop legend Debra Antney to create Artist Boot Camp.
The Love Story of His Parents
In 1991, Eazy-E and Tomica Woods met in a Los Angeles nightclub and instantly hit it off. Although they had known each other before, they had never gone on a date.
Tomica repeatedly turned him down. She was not looking for Eazy’s money, which explains why he looked at her differently from others.
Eazy-E was very close to her and spent a lot of time with her. Woods was someone he was willing to do anything for.
Friends called them love birds and they had a great time together. Because Eazy-E had several passions, she is the only woman he considered his life partner before his death.
The couple tied the knot on 14 March 1995, in a hurry because the rapper had already been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS and was struggling.
At first, they thought he was just coughing and wheezing. But Eric Wright had been feeling unwell for some time but assumed he had asthma, which runs in the family.
Woods was pregnant with Diaya Wright at the time, and Dominick Wright was just two years old when his father lost the fight for his life at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
The Renowned Record Label
When the rapper tragically died, Tomika took over the Ruthless Records record label, which made news in 2017. It was one of the most famous independent labels in rap and hip-hop history, having been founded in March 1987.
Tomika Woods-Wright was tasked with keeping the company on top. She avoided challenges from others who wanted to become part of the company.
She not only started encouraging musicians and business professionals that she had the commercial skills needed to run a successful company.
At the height of NWA, Ruthless Records was earning an astonishing US$10 million a month from record sales alone. On the other hand, his expensive lifestyle meant that his fortune dwindled towards the end of his life.
She also filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against her stepfather Eric Darnell Wright (aka Lil Eazy-E) for using the Ruthless Records and N.W.A. names.
According to the case file, Eric set up NWA-LLC and applied for the trademark “Ruthless Records Inc.”, but the US Patent Office rejected it because it was “confusingly similar” to his late father’s company, Ruthless Records.
According to The Wrap, a settlement was reached in 2018 and Lil Eazy-E was granted the right to use the “Rich & Ruthless” trademark.
Another controversy was that the LA Times wrote that Ruthless paid six moms and seven kids quickly after Eazy’s death in March 1995.
This was deemed suspicious and investigated, but nothing was found. Meanwhile, Jerry Heller, co-founder of Ruthless, reminded the Post that “no one really knows for sure how many children he had.”
The Mysterious Death of Eazy-E
Abby Wright, one of Eazy’s daughters, had a peculiar feeling about E and delved into the past to find out more about the conspiracies surrounding her father’s death.
In the four-part web TV series The Mysterious Death of Eazy-E, Ebby comments, “I have never believed the official story of my father’s death.”
She also stated that she and her mother have been trying to find out what happened and why the rapper died so quickly.
Tracy Jarnagin also commented on this issue. “Something just did not seem right, Eazy-ex stated.
“He died unusually fast. He did not lose weight, he was not a drug abuser; it’s like, one day, he’s fine, the next day, he’s dying,” she stated.
Where is Dominick Wright now?
Dominick Wright keeps a low profile and is not active on his social media accounts. He prefers to be himself. He has become the most successful of Eazy’s sons, despite being the youngest.
