Her father is a producer, filmmaker, videographer, and musician. He was born Thomas Michael Coleman and is a bluegrass and folk musician whose career in the entertainment industry began in 1970. The bass guitarist is known to have collaborated with well-known bluegrass and folk icons such as the Chesapeake Band, American songwriter, and musician Doc Watson and the American bluegrass band The Seldom Scene.
