Michael Gregory Mizanin is the total package. The Ohio-born man known as “The Miz” for his wrestling attempts is more than just dealing punches in the ring. He is also a well-known actor and media personality. In fact, his first attempt to achieve celebrity status did not come about through wrestling. He started as part of the cast of a reality TV show in 2001.

Since then he has appeared on a variety of reality shows over the years. Some of the most famous reality shows include Battle of the Seasons, The Inferno, Total Divas, and Fear Factor. Michael Mizanin was born on 8 October 1980 in Parma, County of Cuyahoga, Ohio. In high school, Micheal Mizanin was a member of the student administration and the basketball, swimming, and cross-country skiing teams. During his studies at the University of Miami in 2001, he got his first chance when he joined the cast of the MTV reality shows The Real World: Back to New York. He then dropped out of school to concentrate on the reality show.

Mizanin later appeared in many game show offshoots of the reality show. With the exception of 2013, he has appeared in at least one television show/project every year since 2001.

Before winning gold in the WWE, Michael began his wrestling career in 2003 as “The Miz” in the California-based independent advertising agency Ultimate Wrestling Pro. In 2004 he participated in the WWE reality television show Tough Enough for a WWE contract and a $1 million cash prize. Although he did not emerge as the winner, “The Miz” had done enough to attract the interest of the WWE and was awarded a development contract.

He spent time in deep south wrestling (DSW) and then Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW). When he joined the SmackDown brand in early 2006, Michael shuttled between his responsibilities in the ring and as a media personality between episodes of SmackDown and Raw. He continued this dual role when he was transferred to ECW on 17 June 2007. He made his debut in the ring with a victory over Nunzio.

On November 16th, 2007, The Miz teamed up with John Morrison to win over MVP and Matt Hardy, securing the WWE Tag Team Championship and his first-ever WWE title. They successfully defended him for several months before losing him to Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins on July 20, 2008. Soon after, they won the World Tag Team Championship from CM Punk and Kofi Kingston in December, before losing it in February 2009 to then WWE Tag Team Champion The Colóns. At the 2009 WWE Draft, The Miz was drafted for the Raw brand, ending his partnership with John Morrison.

During his time at Raw, The Miz won his very first single title – the US Championship – on October 5th, 2009, defeating Kofi Kingston. On February 8, 2010, The Miz formed an alliance (known as ShoMiz) with Big Show, winning over The Straight Edge Society (CM Punk, Luke Gallows) and D-Generation X (Triple H, Shawn Michaels). ShoMiz eventually lost the titles to The Hart Dynasty (Tyson Kidd, David Hart Smith), ending their partnership. The Miz also lost its U.S. Championship title to Bret Hart but won it for the second time in a deadly tussle against R-Truth, Zack Ryder, and John Morrison.

When he redeemed his money in the bank contract on November 22nd, 2010, he beat Randy Orton and became WWE Champion. On February 21, 2011, he also won the WWE Tag Team Championship with John Cena as his tag team partner. Later he would lose his WWE Championship to Cena.

The Miz achieved “Grand Slam Champion” status when he defeated Christian on July 23, 2012, at Raw 1000, securing his first intercontinental championship title. After an 85-day reign, he lost the title to Kofi Kingston.

In 2014, as part of the advertising campaign, a script was written, which gave Miz a month off to concentrate on shooting the fourth part of the WWE studio film The Marine 4: Moving Target. In his second game after his return on July 20, 2014, he was the last man to stand in a royal battle, winning the Intercontinental Championship for the third time. He won it for the fourth time from Ziggler, who had taken it from him after his third victory.

The Miz then continued his title fight, winning the WWE Tag Team Championship with Mizdow in November 2014 and his fifth Intercontinental Championship in early 2016. After shooting The Marine 5: Battleground, The Miz was drafted in the WWE Draft 2016 for the SmackDown brand and took the title.

In 2017 it recorded several more fights and titles. He also found the time to shoot the sixth part of his movie The Marine 6: Close Quarters. After returning from shooting in January 2018, he defeated Roman Reigns and won the eighth Intercontinental Championship title of his career, which he lost to Seth Rollins on April 8th.
