Michael Mizanin was born on 8 October 1980 in Parma, County of Cuyahoga, Ohio. In high school, Micheal Mizanin was a member of the student administration and the basketball, swimming, and cross-country skiing teams. During his studies at the University of Miami in 2001, he got his first chance when he joined the cast of the MTV reality shows The Real World: Back to New York. He then dropped out of school to concentrate on the reality show.

Before winning gold in the WWE, Michael began his wrestling career in 2003 as “The Miz” in the California-based independent advertising agency Ultimate Wrestling Pro.
