Rick Yune is the son of Korean parents – Taeho Yune (father) and Wonhui Park (mother). He was originally born Richard Yun on August 21, 1971, in Washington D.C. However, the actor changed the spelling of his last name from “Yun” to “Yune” for the purposes of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) after he began his acting career. Rick has a younger brother named Karl Yune, who has been making movies since 2004. Also born in Washington D.C., Karl became popular after he appeared in the memoirs of a geisha, the American superhero movie Arrow, and the sci-fi movie Real Steel.

The former completed his basic education at St. John’s College High School and Our Lady of Good Counsel High School (Silver Spring, Maryland). He also attended the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he received a degree in Finance in 1994.
