Lashley, who has had two appearances at the WWE, has enough titles and recognition to retire, but it seems he is not quite finished yet. Bobby was born on July 16, 1976, as Robert Franklin Lashley in Junction City, Kansas, United States of America. He attended Fort Riley Middle School, Junction City High School, and Missouri Valley College and won a number of titles along the way.

He continued this series during his three years in the army but suffered a knee injury in 2004 during a bank robbery in which he missed the 2004 Olympics, almost ending his career.

In the same year, he joined Ohio Valley Wrestling under the name Blaster Lashley after signing a development contract with WWE. After a brief stint as a member of Bolin Services, Lashley changed to his real name and made his WWE television debut at a 2005 SmackDown event where he defeated Simon Dean.

For the 2006 edition of the Royal Rumble, Bobby was the first SmackDown to qualify. He was eliminated through a joint effort by Big Show and Kane, who were World Tag Team Champions at the time. Lashley won a royal battle by eliminating MNM, making him the last man on the pitch. The former army brat then fought in WrestleMania (his first participation in Wrestlemania) and in SmackDown’s King of the Ring tournament. He reached the final but was beaten by Booker T. After his defeat by Booker T, Lashley beat JBL in the United States Championship, which was his first professional title. Less than two months later, he lost it to Finlay.

During Lashley’s time at the WWE’s newly reactivated ECW brand, he became the first African American to win the ECW World Championship. In a Batte of the Billionaires game, Bobby Lashley represented Donald Trump and defeated Vince McMahon’s champion Umaga. He lost the ECW title once and recovered it on June 3, 2007, against Vince McMahon.

After competing for the 2007 WWE Championship, Lashley suffered a legitimate shoulder injury on July 30th that required surgery. After a six-month break from the competition, the WWE released him from his contract on 4 February 2008.

During Boby Lashley’s time out at WWE, he was involved in many independent promotion opportunities such as World League Wrestling, Fusion Pro Wrestling, and Mexico’s AAA.

He then spent a year between 2009 and 2010 at TNA Wrestling, where he won the TNA Championship Series tournament on November 26, 2009. In the last week of January 2010, he was fired by TNA Executive Producer Eric Bischoff.

Bobby Lashley then focused on building his career in MMA with regular appearances for the Inoki Genome Federation (IGF). He then won the IWS Heavyweight Championship by defeating Tiny Iron and Mexx on December 27, 2014.

On March 9, 2014, Lashley returned to impact wrestling. Three months later he won the TNA World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Eric Young. He was the first black American to win the title. He kept the title for three months before losing it to Bobby Roode.

Bobby Lashley reclaimed the title from Roode on January 7, 2015. He would win it two more times against Drew Galloway and Eddie Edwards. His win over Edwards was a “winner-takes-all steel” match, in which he also won the TNA X Division Championship.

Lashley’s TNA contract (now Impact Wrestling at this time) was terminated on January 14, 2018, and he returned to WWE on April 9, 2018.
