David was one of five artists who sang the soundtrack to Queen of the Damned, along with Wayne Static of Static-X, Jay Gordon of Orgy, Chester Bennington of Linkin Park, and Marilyn Manson. Many more facts are worth knowing about him. Let us take the plunge.

His parents are devout and religious Jews, so his religion is Judaism. Although he has not followed the religious path, he is completely proud of his Jewish heritage.

The fact that the parents of Orthodox Jews (dati) are born with their own expectations. For David, his parents wanted him to be ordained as a rabbi or cantor (semikhah), which led to him spending regular time in Israel in his early years. And this would have an impact on his education; he attended a number of Jewish day schools, including the Wisconsin Institute for Torah Study in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Valley Torah High School, Los Angeles, Fasman Yeshiva High School, Chicago, Illinois.
David, however, had his own plans. He did not want to limit himself to the standards, rules, and strict religious requirements of the schools; rather, he chose to be a normal adolescent. He was expelled from three of the schools he attended and left the fourth school of his own free will. David formed his first band during his time in one of these schools – Valley Torah High School, Los Angeles, California.
Although he did not like studying at these schools, he later encouraged his family to observe the Jewish day of rest, also known as the Shabbat or Sabbath, and later trained as a Hazzan (cantor, one who leads the Jewish community in prayer).
Despite his rebellion in high school, he was a good student and got good grades. He graduated from the Ida Crown Jewish Academy, Chicago, Illinois, in 1991, thus ending his high school career. The next year after graduating, David Draiman was in Israel and studied at the Yeshivas Neveh Zion in Kiryat Ye’arim, a suburb of Jerusalem. According to him, he wanted to study religion on his own and decide what he wanted to believe and what he didn’t want to believe.
Upon his return to the United States in 1992, he showed a genuine thirst for knowledge and enrolled in a pre-law program at Loyola University Chicago, where he completed triple degrees in political science, philosophy, and business administration and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1996.
During his studies, he worked as a bank clerk and in telephone sales. After graduation, David worked as an administrative assistant in a health care institution, and after his first year in this profession, he obtained an administrative license and started his own health care institution. He worked for five years as a health care administrator and considered studying law before joining the Band of the Disturbed.
David’s Music Career
From his time as a cantor, he had some vocal training, which he fully exploited in his later years as a singer. He first came into contact with music when he was at school in Los Angeles with a punk rock band that covered Ramones and Sex Pistols and some originals. In an interview with Metal Hammer, he said that Disturbed was the seventh band group he joined.
He became the frontman of the band group and is known for his distinctive rhythmic vocal character and percussive vocal style. Disturbed released five studio albums, most of which were topped on Billboard 200 before taking a break in 2011.
After their break, David worked with Geno Lenardo from Device on an industrial rock/metal project. He was later to become the lead singer of the band Device. Disturbed joined forces in 2015 and released their sixth studio album Immortalized.
