The CW hit series One Tree Hill was a favorite of millions of people, and although it’s long since over, we still care about the stars it gave us. One of them is James Lafferty, who played the role of Nathan Scott, the half-brother of Lucas Scott (Chad Michael Murray) and rebellious son of Dan Scott, who shone as a jockey high up in Tree Hill, albeit a conceited one.

Later in the story, we saw Nathan become humbled after he fell in love with the good girl and songbird Haley James (Bethany Joy Lenz), whom he later married. Although we never got tired of One Tree Hill, here is James Laferty’s true story.

James Lafferty Biography – Age

Jamie was born on 25 July 1985 to James Martin Lafferty, son of Angelica and Jeffrey Lafferty. His father ran a local construction company which was the main source of income for James and his younger brother Stuart Lafferty.

Both James and his brother attended Hemet High School, where they both played actively for the Bulldogs basketball team. Considering that he won an MVP in high school and how good his character was at OTH with the Spalding ball, one would wonder why Lafferty didn’t go pro. Well, fate had other plans up its sleeve for him.

As children, Nathan, excuse me, James’ mother encouraged him and his younger brother to pursue acting as a hobby. James started acting at the age of 6, doing mostly non-speaking performances before he got his first speaking role at the age of 10. It was in the film Annabelle’s Wish, made for television. James had a role in the pilot of Emeril in 2000, but the series was short-lived.

As a senior year juggler and actor, James appeared on shows such as Boston Public, Once and Again, First Monday, Get Real, and the 2002 television movie A Season on the Brink. In the latter, James’ basketball skills definitely came into play. The film, which was ESPN’s TV debut, was adapted from the book of the same name by John Feinstein. It focused on the turbulent 1985-86 season of the University of Indiana men’s basketball team, which was coached by the controversial Bobby Knight.

James graduated from high school in 2003 and moved to California State University, Long Beach. However, his college education was short-lived as he was drafted to play the role of Nathan Scott at OTH. Lafferty had originally auditioned for the role of Lucas Scott, but the directors didn’t see him as much of what they wanted for Lucas. James left his training and moved to Wilmington, North Carolina, where they were filming.

Fortunately, OTH received rave reviews and many viewers made the breakthrough of Lafferty’s show. He was praised for his ability to adapt to the character changes in the show. OTH went on air for 9 solid seasons ending in 2012. His role as Nathan Scott earned him 4 nominations for the Teen Choice Award.

James was pretty idle during his breaks from OTH and only had a few other gigs. After the curtain fell on OTH, Lafferty had recurring roles in Crisis (2014) and Underground (2016). He also became more active in film, starring in the indie film Waffle Street (2015) and in Small Town Crime in 2017.

Besides acting, James Lafferty is also active as a director and producer. He directed 4 episodes of OTH. He has also directed his own films, including the short film Hours Before and the television film Everyone is Doing Great (2015). Lafferty has directed several episodes of the television series The Royals, which is E!s first television show with a screenplay.

Wife or Girlfriend, Is He Married or Dating?

As is usual with the stars of long-running series, James has led a romance with some of his co-stars. The first was Sophia Bush (Brooke Davis), with whom he had a short date in 2008/2009, much to the delight of OTH fans who followed the relationship closely.

After the relationship between him and Bush ended, James went out with Shantel VanSanten, you will remember her as Haley’s sister (Quinn James) in the series. Their relationship, like the first one, was also short-lived and lasted from 2009 to 2010.

The next in James’ life was the Irish actress Eve Hewson, with whom he has been dating since 2010. Eve is the daughter of one of the greatest rock stars in the world, Bono. James’ romance with her was notoriously private and few details were available to the media.

Their relationship ended in 2015 after about 4-5 years. Since then it has become romantically quiet from James. And to answer the question about his marital status: James Lafferty was never married, at least not at the time of writing this article.
