Jo Koy, whose real name is Joseph Glenn Herbert, was born on June 2, 1971, into a Filipino-American family. He is professionally known as a stand-up comic.

He performs in clubs and various theaters around the country. Previously his performances were limited and he was able to perform for almost three years with just over three shows. This was a tough time for him, but his passion for the stage kept him alive. His professional career began in 1994 in a comedy club in Las Vegas. He then switched from open mic night to a regular appearance in the show Catch a Rising Star at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino.

Television was always the plan when he started his career, and he wouldn’t achieve this until much later when he had his first television appearance on The Black Entertainment Television (BET) on BET’s ComicView. On this show, he appeared in two very successful seasons. On July 23, 2012, he started a podcast together with comedian and TV presenter Michael Yo. The podcast was described by both comedians as a successful and wonderful performance.
