Shelley Catherine Hennig was born on January 2, 1987, in Metairie, Louisiana, to Cathy Gosset and Glenn Hennig Sr. The young actress attended Destrehan High School in Louisiana, where she not only excelled academically but was also an accomplished dancer. Shelley also enjoys writing and is a published poet.
In 2003 Shelley won the Miss Louisana Teen USA competition when she entered a competition for the first time. In 2004 she represented Louisiana in the Miss Louisana Teen USA beauty pageant, where she eventually won the title. The crown of the beauty contest came with many benefits, including a scholarship to the New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts and a modeling contract with Trump Modelling Management for one year.
