Jerome Boateng Biography
The defender was born Jérôme Agyenim Boateng on 3 September 1988 in what was then West Berlin. He was born to a Ghanaian father from a German mother.
Even as a child, Jérôme Agyenim Boateng showed the skills and talent to become a very good football player, so that he was able to start training with the youth team of Tennis Borussia Berlin at the age of 6.
The German defender grew up in different parts of Berlin, both with his father and his mother, while his other siblings were raised in another part of Berlin by their mother.
Football Career Club
As mentioned above, Boateng began his career in 1994 with Tennis Borussia Berlin and remained loyal to the club until 2002, when he took another step to continue his youth career with German football club Hertha BSC. He remained loyal to the club until the end of his youth career in 2006.
Jerome Boateng started his senior career after being promoted to the senior national team of Hertha BSC, Hertha BSC II. He played for the team from 2006 to 2007, then he was called up to the senior national team, only to join Hamburger SV after only 10 games.
The center-back played 75 games for Hamburger before moving to Manchester City in 2010. In 2011 he was already on his way back to the German League to play for his current club, Bayern Munich. Although he is a defender, by the end of the 2017/2018 season he had already played 156 games with 4 goals.
Looking at his performances with his various clubs, he has won six Bundesliga titles with Bayern, three DFB Cups, two DFL Supercup titles as well as a UEFA Champions League, a UEFA Super Cup, and a FIFA Club World Cup. Boateng has also won the FA Cup with Manchester City.
Brothers, Girlfriend, Wife
As mentioned above, Jerome was born in Germany and grew up there with his two brothers, Prince Kevin Boateng and George Boateng. All 3 brothers grew up as soccer players on the streets of Berlin. Although they had different mothers, the three brothers happen to still be close to each other. Since Jerome was the youngest, he had to play against his older siblings and other older boys, which made him tough in the game.
The Boatengs brothers spread out as footballers. While the oldest of the three brothers, George, played only as an amateur, Prince plays for Ghana, while Jerome plays for Germany. More than that, although he was the least footballer among the three, Jerome has grown to be the most decorated and successful.
There are allegations that Jerome is married to Sherin Senler, who was his girlfriend for a long time, but there is no evidence of this. Although their relationship was not the smoothest, they have always found their way back to each other after a few separations. They started dating when they were both teenagers, and in 2011 they welcomed their twin daughters Soley and Lamia.
Just before the 2014 World Cup, the central defender, who also plays on the outside right, asked Sherin Senler if she would like to marry him. The relationship has not been heard from since, except for the time when she left him in 2015 and accused him of domestic violence.
But then the two found their way back to each other. It is not clear, however, whether they are still together now.
National Football Career
Although his father is a Ghanaian, Jerome decided to play for Germany, just like his older brother plays for Ghana. He made his first appearance in the German national colors in 2004 as a U-17 player. In 2005 he made the leap to the U-19 team and in 2007 he was called up for the U-21 team.
In 2009, the star defender was invited to join the German national team, for which he has since played and won the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Before he received the invitation to help the country defend its title in Russia, he had already played 70 matches and scored a single goal.
