The Twilight movie series may have been finished a long time ago, but Robert Pattinson remains an important name in Hollywood. You know you have enormous influence when Forbes lists you as one of the most powerful 100 celebrities in the world before you are 30. In the same year, 2010, TIME magazine voted Robert Pattinson one of the 100 most influential people in the world. Of course, much of that had to do with his outstanding performance in Twilight. He also had a role in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Biography

He was born in London, England, on 13 May 1986, the son of Robert Thomas Pattinson, the son of Robert and Clare Pattinson. His father Robert Snr. owned a car import business, while his mother Claire worked in a modeling agency. Robert was the youngest of three children and the only son.

Robert’s two older sisters are Victoria and Elizabeth “Lizzy” Pattinson, who is a musician. He attended Tower House School. Ironically, Robert had a shy personality as a child and it was thanks to his father that he was accepted into the Barnes Theater Club, a prestigious theater program at Harrodian School. The private school is located in Barnes, England. During his time at the Harrodian School, his first roles were in plays such as Anything Goes, As Out Town, and Tess of the d’Urbervilles.

His first foray into professional acting was the lead role in Ring of the Nibelung. In May 2005 he was supposed to appear in the British premiere of The Woman Before at the Royal Court Theatre but was dumped at the last minute in favor of Tom Riley.

In the same year, Rob met Mike Newell, who later became director of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Robert auditioned and got the role of Cedric Diggory, a friend of Harry Potter. This was the beginning of Robert’s march into the limelight.

If his role in Harry Potter was the beginning of his breakthrough, then his role as Edward Cullen in the film Twilight (2008) shot him to superstar status worldwide.

The film was released on November 21, 2008, and on its first weekend, box office receipts totaled nearly $70 million. Personally, I would like to tell Robert that the film was more than just a demonstration of his impressive acting skills. He won admirers for his musical agility. An accomplished piano and guitar player, Robert composed and sang two soundtracks to the film: “Never Think”, which he wrote with Sam Bradley, and “Let Me Sign”, which was written by Marcus Foster and Bobby Long.

In 2008, when the Twilight ovation was at its loudest, he appeared in How to Be, a low-budget comedy-drama that received mixed reviews from critics, but still received more praise for its performance. That same year, Pattinson starred as Salvador Dalí in the film Little Ashes, a Spanish-British drama.

In 2009, Robert Pattinson returned with his Twilight cast for New Moon, as well as in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and parts 1 and 2 of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. While the Twilight series was running, he also appeared in other impressive works, such as Remember Me in 2010 and Water for Elephants in 2011. In 2012, Pattinson played the young billionaire Eric Packer in the drama Cosmopolis, a role he still considers one of his greatest challenges today. He worked with the stars Juliette Binoche, Paul Giamatti, and Samantha Morton.

In 2014, Pattinson played the lead role in David Michod’s The Rover alongside Guy Pearce and Scoot McNairy. He played the role of a naive member of the criminal gang. He also played the role of Jerome Fontana, a limousine driver and struggling actor who wants to become a successful screenwriter, in Maps to the Stars, a film that takes a comic look at the dark sides of Hollywood.

In 2015 Robert Pattinson played the leading role in The Childhood of a Leader alongside Bérénice Bejo and Stacy Martin. Robert played two different roles in the film, first as Charles Marker, a reporter in Germany during the First World War, and later as an adult version of The Leader. He also appeared in The Lost City of Z in 2016, where he had to lose 35 pounds and grow a beard to portray the figure of British explorer Corporal Henry Costin.
