Travis Tritt is an American-born country musician, singer-songwriter, and actor. Tritt achieved superstar status in the 1990s with several countries hit parades, after he started his career in 1987. Over the years, the talented artist has had 40 titles in the Billboard Hot Country Songs Charts, five of which made it to number 1. Seven of Tritt’s over 20 albums have achieved platinum certification or higher, making him one of the best-selling country music artists of the 1990s. Travis Tritt is a two-time Grammy Award winner and has also received 4 awards from the Country Music Association (CMA).

Travis Kicked on February 9, 1963, in Marietta, Georgia. His parents are James and Gwen Tritt. He developed an interest in music as a child after watching the Sunday School Choir of his church perform Ray Stevens’ “Everything Is Beautiful”. He received his first guitar at the age of 8, after which he taught himself to play. Young Travis became a minor celebrity in school and was invited to play in various classes. He also toured various churches after joining his church band as a teenager. He started writing songs and joined a music group while still at school.

Travis Tritt released his demo album, “Proud of the Country” in 1987, which won him a record deal with the Warner Bros. department in Nashville. According to his original contract, the singer was to deliver 3 hit singles before being signed for a full album. A musical genius, Tritt far exceeded expectations as his 1990 debut album Country Club contained 9 top 10 hits. In 1990 he received the Billboard Top New Male Artist Award and was nominated for the CMA Horizon Award (now known as the New Artist Award).

Step’s second album, It’s All About to Change (1991) even trumped the success of the first album, as all 4 of his 10 singles reached the Top 5 of the Billboard Hot Country Songs Charts. The album is also Tritt’s most successful album to date, having been awarded three platinum awards. In 1991 Travis Tritt received a Grammy Award for the best country collaboration with vocals alongside his fellow country singer Marty Stuart for his work on the hit single “The Whiskey Ain’t Workin”.

The third and fourth studio albums by Travis Tritt, released in 1992 and 1994 respectively, also received double platinum. Tritt won his second Grammy at the side of his longtime collaborator Stuart for their work on his 1998 song “Same Old Train”, and at the turn of the century, he split from Warner Bros. Records to Columbia Records.

His first album with Columbia, Down the Road I Go, included the hit single “Best of Intentions”, which became Tritt’s fifth and final No. 1 hit. The talented singer released two more fairly successful albums with Columbia before leaving the label in 2005. Travis Tritt joined Category 5 Records in February 2006, where he released the album The Storm (2007). Tritt’s time at Category 5 ended abruptly in November 2007 after the label was closed due to legal disputes. Travis Tritt is currently married to his wife Theresa Nelson, who has been married for over 2 decades. The couple met in February 1995 and formed the union on April 12, 1997. They have 2 children; 2 sons and a daughter. Their first son, Tristan James, was born on 16 June 1999. Their first and only daughter, Tyler Reese, was born on 18 February 1998 and their second son, Tarian Nathaniel, welcomed them on 20 November 2003.

Travis Tritt was married twice in the past before his current relationship. In September 1982, 19-year-old Travis Tritt married his high school sweetheart, Karen Ryon. However, the marriage lasted barely 2 years and ended in divorce in 1984. Shortly thereafter he met a woman named Jodi Barnett, who was 12 years older than him. This second marriage broke up in 1989 and their divorce was finalized in January 1990.

The daughter of Tritt, Tyler Reese Tritt, has dragged her famous father’s footsteps into music. As a teenager, she worked with her father to revive the classic “Sometimes Love Just Ain’t Enough”, which was recorded for the re-release of his album The Storm 2013. Since then, she has pursued her own music career through several live performances. In 2017 she opened for her father on various tours and concerts. On November 3rd, 2017, Tyler Reese Tritt finally released her debut single “Perfect” on Post Oak Records.
