What is Anthony Bourdain Known For?
Anthony Bourdain was best known for his cooking. He was a celebrity chef, a writer, a travel documentarian, and a television personality. He developed his passion for cooking and culinary services more than most people expected. He once said that his hunger for the kitchen was kindled during a family holiday in France.
He was born in New York City on June 25, 1956, the son of Pierre Bourdain (father), a classical music industry executive at Columbia Records (he died in 1987), and Gladys Bourdain (mother), a New York Times editor. Bourdain grew up in Leonia, New Jersey, and his only sibling, Christopher, is a currency analyst and also a presenter on several television shows.

During his lifetime, Tony had shown the world that kitchen service is an interest that affects the world, and he does not believe that it is only for the female people, but that it can be chosen by anyone as a career or even a hobby. He attended the Culinary Institute of America, graduated in 1978, and spent years at Brassier Les Halles, which was closed in 2017 for financial reasons.
Writing and TV Career
As a writer, Anthony Bourdain essentially wrote books about food, but to mix them and create diversity, he wrote only two other fiction and historical fiction. He wrote ‘Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the culinary lower abdomen’, which was published in 2000 and immediately became a bestseller and his first ticket to world fame. He soon built on this fame by organizing a television show about food and world travel called “A Cook’s Tour”, which was the first of its kind and one of the best shows he ever hosted. It included 35 episodes, which ran from 2002 to 2003.
In 2005 he launched another show and hosted the culinary adventure program Anthony Bourdain of Travel Chanel: No Reservations, which ran from 2005 to 2012. He also hosted “The Taste” alongside his travel report show for CNN; Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown. He was a guest juror on Bravo’s cooking competition “Top Chef Reality”, episodes of “Maimi Ink”, where he had a skull tattoo done.
Anthony wrote Medium Raw: “Bloody valentine to the world of food and the people who cook. The book was published in 2010, and the following year he published a crime and fiction book and a graphic novel called Get Jiro.
Why Did He Commit Suicide?
Certainly, the suicide rate has increased dramatically with the growth of the world’s population, but no one could have imagined that one of the world’s most famous chefs would end up taking his own life, regardless of his accomplishments and all the lives he has inspired.
June 8, 2018, was a black Friday for most of Anthony Bourdain’s fans when it became known that he had committed suicide by hanging himself in his hotel room at the Hotel Le Chambard in Kaysersberg, France. He was discovered by his best friend, Eric Ripert. So far, there are no concrete clues as to why the famous chef wanted to end his life, no trace or note that could suggest or give a clue as to what prompted him to commit suicide.

He leaves behind his only daughter Ariane, who is 11 years old and was born to him by his second wife, Ottavia Busia after his first marriage failed.
After his death many comments about the world-famous cook appeared, many described him as a happy and cheerful person and made it a mystery why he should take his own life.
Anthony Bourdain Personal Life
Tony was married for twenty years to his first wife, Nancy Putkoski, before divorcing her, and married his second wife, Ottavia Busia, from whom he also divorced in 2016.
The legendary chef never devoted himself to any religion, although he was raised by a Jewish mother and a Catholic father. This may explain the dent in his public image, as many noticed his dependence on certain substances such as heroin, cocaine, alcohol, and cigarettes, despite his efforts to quit smoking.
